Bodies of two men missing for a week found in crashed car

Police are seeking witnesses and dashcam footage as investigators work to establish how the car left the carriageway.

  • Lancashire Police confirmed on Sunday that two missing men, William Hutchinson and Stuart Tallis, were found deceased inside a blue Peugeot 106 hidden in thick undergrowth off the A584 Preston New Road near the A583 Blackpool Road junction.
  • Hutchinson, 31, and Tallis, 27, were reported missing separately after last being seen in Preston on June 24, though authorities initially investigated them independently before determining they may have been together.
  • Specialist search officers located the vehicle shortly after 12pm yesterday, discovering the car concealed from view at Newton-with-Clifton following an active search operation.
  • Sergeant Martin Wilcock from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit stated the men died in "extremely tragic circumstances," and families are being supported by specially-trained officers.
  • Investigators believe the Peugeot left the carriageway prior to 5:30am on June 24, and police request anyone with information or dashcam footage to call 101, quoting log 613 of July 4, 2026.
