Minn.-based Cargill & other companies accused of price-fixing beef

WASHINGTON – The Department of Justice investigates four companies, including Minnetonka, Minnesota-based Cargill for allegedly price-fixing beef. The DOJ also accuses JBS, Tyson Food and National Beef of potentially colluding and manipulating prices. The companies control about 85 percent of the U.S. beef-processing market. Average beef prices have climbed by $1.27 cents per pound since 2020, which is more than double the rate of inflation.
