Minister says AI safety institute now looking at OpenAI protocols
- Canada’s AI Safety Institute has gained access to all of OpenAI’s protocols to assess their safety measures.
- Minister Solomon met with OpenAI’s CEO in March after it was revealed that OpenAI banned a mass shooter in Tumbler Ridge from using ChatGPT but did not notify law enforcement.
- Solomon warned OpenAI representatives that protecting children is mandatory or else stricter government actions will be taken.
- The AI Safety Institute is preparing a report to provide accountability following a government request for technical advice.
