Minister says AI safety institute now looking at OpenAI protocols

Canada’s AI Safety Institute has gained access to all of OpenAI’s protocols to assess their safety measures.
Minister Solomon met with OpenAI’s CEO in March after it was revealed that OpenAI banned a mass shooter in Tumbler Ridge from using ChatGPT but did not notify law enforcement.
Solomon warned OpenAI representatives that protecting children is mandatory or else stricter government actions will be taken.
The AI Safety Institute is preparing a report to provide accountability following a government request for technical advice.
