Cabinet wants to quickly end autism assessment for driving licenses

Good news: if you have autism and want to get a driver's license, you will soon no longer have to go to the psychiatrist for a test.

The government wants people with autism to no longer have to undergo a medical examination before they can obtain their driver's license from next year. Minister Barry Madlener (Infrastructure) also wants the Central Bureau for Driving Licenses (CBR) to adjust the rules for people with ADHD, because it is not clear how they improve road safety.

It will become easier for people with autism to get a driver's license. The medical examination they had to pass before they could get a driver's license will be abolished from next year. People who have had a psychosis will also no longer have to wait six months before they can be tested.
