Millions of Volunteers Lay Wreaths Honoring Veterans
More than a third of the 2 million volunteers were children who placed 3.1 million wreaths at 5,598 locations to honor U.S. military service members.

- Maine businessman Morrill Worcester launched the effort with a 1992 donation of 5,000 surplus wreaths, and what began as 150 wreaths in 2011 at Arlington National Cemetery expanded to thousands of sites.
- Volunteers including students and civic groups placed over 3.1 million sponsored veterans' wreaths, with children volunteers making up about one-third and often speaking veterans' names aloud.
- At Arlington National Cemetery, over 27,000 volunteers placed wreaths at 265,000 gravesites while veterans, families and community members gathered for local ceremonies.
