Millions flow to Minnesota's competitive legislative races
Parties and outside groups have poured more than $1 million into several races as control of Minnesota’s narrowly divided Legislature hangs in the balance.
Minnesota parties are investing millions into tight legislative races this November, fighting to secure control over the most narrowly divided legislature in state history.
The Senate currently maintains a 34-33 DFL majority, while the Minnesota House is tied at 67-67, a makeup last seen in 1979, leaving control in flux.
In Senate District 4, incumbent Sen. Rob Kupec, DFL-Moorhead, faces Republican Austin Peterson, a Hawley school board member, in a race drawing $1 million in spending.
Outside groups including Advance Minnesota and Pro Jobs Majority PAC are driving spending, with Advance Minnesota investing $481,000 in GOP-affiliated efforts across competitive districts.
With all 201 seats in the Minnesota Legislature on the ballot this November, voters will determine which party controls the state government and sets the legislative agenda.
