More than a thousand firefighters are already working to extinguish the fire declared two days ago in the Portuguese municipality of Vouzela, in the center-north of the country, where 120 firefighters sent from the Military Emergency Unit (UME) work.
This team arrived within the framework of the European Civil Protection Mechanism activated on Friday by the Portuguese Government. Spain was also requested to send two Canadair planes, which have not yet arrived in the country.
The team of the Spanish Military Emergency Unit arrived in Portugal this morning and is supporting the fight against the fire in Vouzela, Viseu district, told Lusa source of the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI).
