[Nago] A peace prayer service was held on the 19th at the plaza below the Yabu Peace Tower in the Yabu district of Nago City to pray for the repose of the souls of those who died in the war. Bereaved families, local residents, and city officials attended and offered prayers for the 1,167 souls. Kazuko Yamamoto (84), a survivor of the Battle of Okinawa, is from Ie Island. She was three years old at the time and lost her parents, uncle, and aunt.
