Lithuania’s Border Guard Chief Resigns After Cover-up Claims over Migrant Attack

Prosecutors are examining border officers’ actions after reports that about 20 migrants attacked guards and one officer was lightly injured.

The head of Lithuania’s State Border Guard Service (VSAT), Rustamas Liubajevas, has resigned amid mounting questions over how his agency handled, and reported, a violent incident on the Belarusian border last month, in which migrants allegedly tried to drag one of his officers across the frontier into Belarus.
