Midwest Fiber Networks and Midwest Fiberpath Announce Agreement to Advance 1,200-Mile Midwest Fiber Corridor
The project will add conduit, dark fiber and lit services for carriers, hyperscalers and utilities as engineering and procurement advance.
- On Thursday, Midwest Fiber Networks , Midwest Fiberpath , and Hawkeye Land Co. announced a strategic agreement to develop approximately 1,200 miles of fiber corridors connecting Chicago, Omaha, Minneapolis, and Kansas City.
- Since 1985, Cedar Rapids, Iowa-based Hawkeye Land Co. has held exclusive, perpetual easement rights along former Rock Island Railroad corridors spanning 106 counties across four states.
- MWFN serves as the key provider for connectivity commercialization, while Fiberpath develops scalable long-haul infrastructure across Hawkeye's right-of-way to support growing high-capacity demand.
- Rick Stickle, CEO of Hawkeye and Managing Director of Fiberpath, noted, "With this partnership, we believe we have found the highest and best of Hawkeye Land Co." Construction begins Spring 2027.
- The three companies align to establish the corridor as a foundation for long-term network expansion, addressing connectivity demand from data centers, enterprises, and public-sector organizations.
