Michigan's Kyle Whittingham won't say if Bryce Underwood or Tommy Carr will start vs. No. 6 Indiana
Kyle Whittingham said he has chosen Michigan’s starter, but he will not reveal it before kickoff to preserve a strategic edge.
On Monday, Michigan head coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed he has decided on a starting quarterback for Saturday's game against Indiana but declined to reveal whether sophomore Bryce Underwood or freshman Tommy Carr will lead the offense.
The decision follows a halftime quarterback change during Saturday's 21-18 win over Penn State, when Whittingham benched Underwood after the sophomore threw two interceptions with the Wolverines trailing 3-0.
Carr provided a spark in the second half, completing five of seven passes for 47 yards and rushing for 36 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown that secured the victory.
Ruling out a platoon system, Whittingham stated, "There's not a quarterback that I've ever been around that studies any more than Tommy Carr," signaling one player will handle the full game plan.
The 6-1 Hoosiers rank fourth in scoring defense, allowing an average of 12.9 points per game, presenting a significant challenge for Michigan this Saturday at Michigan Stadium.
