Michigan names Tommy Carr starting QB in advance of game for 1st time for Michigan State matchup
Carr earned the job after throwing for 266 yards and three total touchdowns in a win at Rutgers.
On Monday, Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham named freshman quarterback Tommy Carr the starter for Saturday's game against Michigan State, officially ending the team's quarterback uncertainty.
Carr replaced sophomore Bryce Underwood at halftime during the Penn State game last month, securing the starting role after leading the Wolverines to a crucial comeback victory.
The freshman has completed 72.1% of his passes for 503 yards this season, including a standout 22-of-27, 266-yard performance against Rutgers last Saturday.
Whittingham confirmed Carr will remain under center for the 'foreseeable future,' describing the move as the only logical option for the 5-3 Wolverines.
With three losses already this season, Michigan faces the rival Spartans this Saturday night as their College Football Playoff hopes have ended.
