Michael Lorenzen, double plays help Rockies top Mets

  • On Friday, the Colorado Rockies held off the New York Mets 4-3 at Citi Field behind pitcher Michael Lorenzen's seven-inning performance. Lorenzen allowed one run and seven hits while inducing three double-play grounders.
  • Right fielder Troy Johnson extended Colorado's lead in the seventh inning with a two-run single off reliever Sean Manaea. The Mets grounded into three double plays, the third time this season they've done so in a single game.
  • The victory snapped an eight-game losing streak for the Rockies against the Mets. Antonio Senzatela earned his second save by pitching a perfect ninth, striking out pinch-hitter MJ Melendez with a 98 mph fastball.
  • Colorado placed right-handed starter Ryan Feltner on the 15-day injured list Friday with right ulnar nerve inflammation. To replace him, the team recalled left-hander Sammy Peralta from Triple-A Albuquerque following Thursday's loss to the Padres.
  • Saturday's series matchup features Rockies LHP Jose Quintana facing Mets RHP Kodai Senga at 2:10 p.m. Sunday's finale will pit a to-be-determined Colorado starter against Mets RHP Nolan McLean.
