Micah Parsons provides promising injury update for Packers fans
Parsons said he wants to make sure his knee is fully ready before returning, and Matt LaFleur said the Packers are getting closer.
On his podcast, "The Edge with Micah Parsons," Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons said, "If the Super Bowl was this week, I'm playing in the Super Bowl," emphasizing his focus on long-term health over premature return.
Parsons, 27, sustained a torn ACL and MCL in Week 15 last season and underwent surgery on Dec. 29, leaving him about 9 months into recovery without returning to practice.
Earlier in the week, Packers coach Matt LaFleur confirmed they await medical clearance, saying, "You don't want one leg to be that much stronger than the other." He emphasized the body must be "in sync."
Parsons will not play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys but clarified his recovery is not driven by the matchup, stating, "I just need two healthy knees to do what I love to do."
Emphasizing long-term health, Parsons questioned the logic of returning for four weeks if it risks further injury, aiming to avoid the "overcompensation injury on the other side" common after ACL recoveries.
