- The Gate D60 expansion includes individual passenger hold rooms, adjoining boarding areas, dining and shopping areas, and an enhanced baggage-handling system, with officials showing renderings of the design.
- American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said the airline remains committed to the project and called the new D60 transformational for customers and airline staff, emphasizing Miami's key hub role.
- Looking ahead, the plan will connect to the airport's customs hall to facilitate future international travel and boost capacity, according to MIA and Miami-Dade County.
