MGI Tech and Shanghai AI Laboratory Unveil ProtoPilot and BioLab Bench, Pioneering Physical AI for Life Sciences
ProtoPilot learns from failed experiments, and BioLab Bench tests whether AI agents can execute real lab tasks on automated equipment.
On Sunday, Genoria AI, a subsidiary of MGI Tech, launched ProtoPilot and BioLab Bench in collaboration with the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory to establish a new paradigm for Physical AI in life sciences.
Genoria AI CEO Dr. Yang Meng described ProtoPilot as a self-evolving system that learns from failure, covering the entire experimental lifecycle from design through wet-lab feedback.
BioLab Bench measures whether agents execute tasks on physical equipment rather than merely generating correct answers. ProtoPilot achieved 52.38% on ProtocolQA, approaching the 54% human-expert level.
Established in April 2026, Genoria AI leverages hardware infrastructure from MGI Tech, building on deployment expertise gained from over 3,800 users globally.
These innovations aim to power 7×24 unattended intelligent laboratories, enabling BioAgents to translate experimental intent into reproducible actions on automated platforms rather than relying on text-based training alone.
