For many years, Meyer Werft has specialized in the production of cruise ships. However, military ships could soon be built in Papenburg.

The Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, which was rescued by the state, is primarily known for building cruise ships. To get the company back on track, restructuring expert Ralf Schmitz is now considering the production of warships. The managing director says Meyer Werft has a significant advantage over its competitors.

Meyer Werft in Papenburg, rescued by the federal government and the state of Lower Saxony, is considering expanding into the defense business.
