The Ministry of Health confirmed 33 cases of Cyclospora in Mexico and maintains investigations in Guanajuato and Quintana Roo to determine the origin of the contagions.
The Ministry of Health of Mexico began a sanitary investigation in 16 hotels in Quintana Roo, a state that houses tourist destinations such as the Riviera Maya and Cancun, after United Kingdom authorities alerted to cases of cyclosporiasis in British tourists who stayed in the region. The teams collected samples of food and water, whose laboratory results are still under analysis.
