Meta's Mango targets image and video AI while Avocado focuses on coding; both aim for 2026 launch to rival Google and OpenAI, with AI investments boosting ad returns.

  • Superintelligence Labs, based in Menlo Park, is building three new AI models as part of Meta's expanded AI effort launched earlier this year.
  • Technical leads described Avocado as a coding-focused text model delayed beyond its original launch, while MSL reported a breakthrough in world models that predict physical consequences from visual input.
  • Following the disclosure, the company raised its FY25 capital expenditure guidance and shares rose 2.32% to close at $664.45 on Thursday, according to Beth Kindig.
  • Mango will compete with Google's Nano Banana and Veo and OpenAI's ChatGPT Image and Sora as image and video features drive user growth and rivals push coding tools for enterprise clients.
