On 1 July, we celebrated in Cuba the Historian’s Day, which is part of a wide day during which we recognize the work done by subsidiaries of the Union of Historian of Cuba (UNHIC), as well as by professionals who have stood out in their work during the year and, also, those who have done so throughout a lifetime of consecration to this profession. This date was chosen in homage to Dr. Emilio Roig de Leuchsenring, a renowned historian and promoter of the National Congresses of History, who on that date in 1935 received the status of Historian of Havana, whose work Dr. Eusebio Leal Spengler continued.
The Union of Historians of Cuba issued a message of congratulations on the occasion of today's celebration of the Day of the Cuban Historian, which we transmit below.
Havana, Jul 1 (RHC) Cuban historian and pedagogue Eduardo Torres Cuevas today received the academic status of Doctor Honoris Causa in Social Sciences awarded by the University of Matanzas.
