Mercosur-EFTA deal ready to be signed next week
The Southern Common Market (Mercosur) is to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) next Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro, it was announced on Friday. EFTA groups Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, which will now partner with Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Bolivia.
The free trade agreement between Mercosul and Efta (European Free Trade Association), a block formed by Norway, Switzerland, Iceland and Liechtenstein, will be signed on 16 September in Rio de Janeiro. The announcement was made by note by the MRE (Minister for Foreign Affairs). The agreement will be signed during the Mercosul Chancellor Meeting, which will be chaired by Ambassador Mauro Vieira. Brazil is in the temporary presidency of the block.
