“Rare Family Day,” held in Novato, California, on Oct. 2, featured the Mercer Island family of Casey and Effie Parks as keynote speakers. They did an entertaining and informative 15-minute presentation to an audience of several hundred people, mostly families with children disabled by rare diseases. They received a standing ovation for their “Star Wars” themed remarks.
