- Investigators identified the pair using surveillance footage and cell phone videos Patterson and Cardoza filmed themselves and showed to friends; officials confirmed the explosion caused no injuries and minimal structural damage.
- Under the plea agreement, prosecutors recommend three years of supervised release and full restitution rather than prison time, with U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley scheduled to issue sentences on Aug. 4.
- Defense attorneys Stefan Rozembersky and Kevin Reddington characterized the act as "mischief" committed by young men, arguing it was not an attempt to subvert the U.S. government or attack any specific institution.
