Carter, Memphis Pull Away From UAB in the 3rd, Win 38-13
Jaylin Carter scored two touchdowns and Marcus Stokes passed for two more as Memphis turned a halftime deficit into a 25-point win.
On Saturday night, Memphis defeated UAB 38-13 at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, remaining undefeated in American Conference play. Running back Jaylin Carter rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
Memphis trailed 13-10 at halftime, facing a potential repeat of last season's upset loss to the Blazers. The Tigers adjusted in the second half to prevent UAB from maintaining its early advantage.
Quarterback Marcus Stokes threw for 164 yards and two touchdowns, while Carter added two rushing scores. The Tigers reclaimed the 94-pound bronze rack of ribs trophy awarded in the "Battle for the Bones."
Memphis' defense forced three turnovers in the second half to stifle UAB's offense. Blazers quarterback Ryder Burton struggled under the pressure, finishing with 131 passing yards, an interception, and a lost fumble.
The Tigers travel to New Orleans on Friday to face The Green Wave at Yulman Stadium. UAB hosts East Carolina on Thursday, seeking to recover from the conference loss.
