Media baron accused of DV attack heading overseas
His lawyer said the family is relocating overseas and a plea deal remains possible as prosecutors continue discussions over the assault charges.
On Friday, media executive Antony Catalano appeared in Melbourne Magistrates Court, where Magistrate Donna Bakos amended his bail conditions to permit overseas travel as his family relocates.
Catalano faces eight charges, including threats to kill and assault, stemming from an alleged hour-long attack on his wife, Stefanie Catalano, at their St Kilda penthouse in March.
Defense barrister Dermot Dann, KC, disputed allegations of strangulation and the use of an iron as "did not happen," while Stefanie has provided "statements of no complaint" to Victoria Police.
Negotiations regarding a potential resolution continue, with the defense stating the complainant does not want the charges against Catalano to proceed "in any way, shape or form."
The matter returns for a contest mention on December 14, while Catalano remains on leave from his leadership positions at Australian Community Media and View Media Group.
