MDA Space to Buy Blue Canyon Technologies to Gain Foothold in U.S. Market
The all-cash deal adds Blue Canyon’s Denver manufacturing footprint and U.S. defence market access, with the transaction expected to close by the end of 2026.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, Toronto-based MDA Space Ltd. signed a definitive agreement to acquire 100% of Blue Canyon Technologies LLC for US$620 million, or approximately C$874 million, in an all-cash transaction.
The acquisition of Blue Canyon, currently part of RTX's Raytheon business, provides MDA Space with critical manufacturing facilities in the Denver, Colorado aerospace hub and expands access to the United States defence market.
Founded in 2008, Blue Canyon employs more than 400 people and has launched more than 85 spacecraft, bringing an 18-year history of flight heritage and mission success to MDA Space.
MDA Space CEO Mike Greenley stated the purchase "is expected to accelerate our growth strategy by increasing our US market opportunities," with the deal accretive to Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted EPS in 2027.
Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the deal is expected to close by the end of 2026, while MDA Space will host a conference call at 8:30 a.m. ET today to discuss the transaction.
