Gophers Women's Basketball Loses Tori McKinney to a Season-Ending Knee Injury
The junior guard led Minnesota in scoring last season and will miss the entire 2026-27 campaign after a practice knee injury.
On Monday, University of Minnesota women's basketball head coach Dawn Plitzuweit announced that junior guard Tori McKinney will miss the entire 2026-27 season after suffering a knee injury during practice last week.
A 6-foot-1 Minnetonka, Minnesota, native, McKinney averaged 12.7 points and two steals per game last season, serving as the team's leading scorer and a primary defensive player.
Addressing the injury, Plitzuweit stated, "We are heartbroken for Tori, but we know she will attack her rehabilitation with the same enthusiasm, determination, and relentless effort that she plays with."
To offset the loss, Minnesota will rely on returning starters Mara Braun and Grace Grocholski, along with new transfers from the NCAA portal, to adjust its rotation.
The regular season opener against Harvard at Williams Arena on Nov. 2 will serve as the first test for the Gophers without their star wing.
