Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre won the race for South County supervisor, cementing the Democratic majority on the Board of Supervisors six months after the surprise departure of Nora Vargas. As of Wednesday morning, Aguirre held a seemingly insurmountable lead over Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, who told a local radio station he had conceded defeat.
