In Aalter, where former minister Pieter De Crem (CD&V) is mayor, non-Belgians have to wait four times longer for a registration in the municipality than legally allowed. This is evident from research by the VRT program ‘Pano’ and the newspaper De Morgen. Belgians get registered there without any problems.
