Martha Stewart Reveals How She Made a Jaw-Dropping $65 Million in Royalties
The lifestyle mogul says a Kmart partnership and brand deal once brought in $65 million a year before a difficult period erased $1 billion.
Lifestyle mogul Martha Stewart revealed she once earned $65 million annually in royalties from her Kmart partnership, which involved selling nearly $2 billion worth of merchandise.
Stewart signed the Kmart deal in the 1980s, crediting her then-husband, Andrew Stewart, for helping negotiate the arrangement that became her first major financial breakthrough.
Before the Kmart contract, Stewart grossed slightly more than $1 million running a catering business, though she noted royalty rates have since dropped to three percent of wholesale.
Stewart claimed she "lost about a billion dollars" during her early 2000s legal troubles, with legal fees contributing significantly to the financial strain.
Now 85, Stewart maintains her appearance through facial exercises and peptides while avoiding plastic surgery, continuing to reflect on her decades-long career evolution.
