Marta Kostyuk Withdraws From the Italian Open with Physical Issues After Titles in Madrid and Rouen
Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine withdrew from the Italian Open due to hip and ankle issues after winning titles in Madrid and Rouen, France, and is on an 11-match winning streak.
She posted on Instagram that her ankle was still not fully healed and it was unwise to continue competing in the Rome tournament.
Kostyuk announced plans to recover and prepare for the French Open starting May 24.
Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, who won the WTA 1000 level tennis tournament in Madrid and rose to 15th in the world rankings, will miss the highest category tournament in Rome, citing injury.
