Marlon James, Douglas Stuart and Elizabeth Strout Are Among Booker Prize Semifinalists
- On Tuesday, the 2026 Booker Prize longlist was announced, featuring 13 novels chosen from 163 submissions spanning thriller, dystopian sci-fi, and love story genres.
- Chaired by historian Mary Beard, the five-member judging panel selected novels that are long-form fiction written in English and published in the UK or Ireland between October 2025 and September 2026.
- Returning winners Marlon James and Douglas Stuart join Pulitzer Prize-winner Elizabeth Strout on the list, which also includes three debut authors: Djamel White, Kenan Orhan, and Rebecca Perry.
- The winning author receives £50,000 and a trophy named Iris, while the six shortlisted authors announced in September will each receive £2,500 and a specially bound edition.
- Judges will announce the six shortlisted books on September 22, 2026, before a ceremony in London on November 9, 2026, reveals the winner.
