Mariners reinstate RHP Matt Brash from injured list
On Wednesday, the Seattle Mariners reinstated right-hander Matt Brash from the 15-day injured list and optioned rookie Robinson Ortiz to Triple-A Tacoma to create roster space.
Brash has been dominant this season, posting a 0.00 ERA in 14 appearances with 11.1 scoreless innings. The Mariners are 12-2 when he plays.
Following Tommy John surgery that sidelined him in 2024, Brash landed on the injured list May 1 with right lat inflammation. He completed two rehab appearances with Triple-A Tacoma before Wednesday's activation.
Ortiz returns to Tacoma without having made his MLB debut after being recalled on Monday. The rookie holds a 0-1 record with a 2.81 ERA in 15 Triple-A relief appearances.
Meanwhile, Speier is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday night with the High-A AquaSox in Everett. The reliever has reported feeling better in recent days as he works toward returning to the roster.
