Mariners Outfielder Randy Arozarena Leaves with Apparent Leg Injury
Seattle shuffled its outfield after Arozarena left in the third inning, and the Mariners are awaiting clarity on the injury.
On Friday, Mariners outfielder Randy Arozarena exited the game against the Washington Nationals in the third inning after landing awkwardly on the first-base bag, walking off under his own power following a checkup from assistant athletic trainer Kevin Orloski.
Arozarena has been the Mariners' most valuable player this season, appearing in all 71 games with a 2.6 bWAR and hitting.291 with seven home runs, 33 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases entering the series.
Already without All-Stars Cal Raleigh and Brendan Donovan, Seattle is managing injuries to shortstop J.P. Crawford and bullpen arms Matt Brash and Cooper Criswell during a 10-day, 10-game East Coast trip.
Following the injury, Luke Raley moved from right field to left, while Victor Robles entered the game in right field to replace Arozarena for the defensive half-inning.
The Mariners have provided no immediate word on the extent of the injury, leaving the team waiting for clarity as this setback compounds a "hellacious" road trip.
