Maple Leafs Acquire Raty From Canucks for Forwards Buhr and Quillan
Aatu Räty cleared waivers and can join the Toronto Marlies after the Maple Leafs added a depth center and two young players.
On Thursday, the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired forward Aatu Raty from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for forwards Jacob Quillan and Brandon Buhr.
Vancouver placed Raty on waivers recently, and Toronto General Manager John Chayka swung the trade to acquire the forward, viewing him as having untapped potential.
By bundling Buhr into the deal, Toronto solves their 50 SPCs problem, while Raty previously helped the Abbotsford Canucks win the 2025 Calder Cup.
Canucks General Manager Ryan Johnson said the move provides the club two young players as they look to improve overall depth. "We want to thank Aatu for all he has done," Johnson added.
Since Raty cleared waivers today, Toronto can assign him directly to the Toronto Marlies, provided he does not play in 10 games or remain on the roster for 30 days.
