In Germany, it has been reported that in many critical sectors experiencing a shortage of skilled labor, the proportion of workers of immigrant origin is much higher than the overall economic average.

People with a history of immigration are overrepresented in many bottlenecks: in 2025, they accounted for more than half of the chefs, food production and land transfer. In the economy as a whole, their share was 27 percent.
