Suspects hunted after police officer injured in shooting
The officer is being treated for a foot wound as detectives search for a man and a woman after a firearm was recovered, police said.
On Sunday, a Nottinghamshire Police officer was shot in the foot after approaching two people in Angel Row shortly before 04:50 BST, and is receiving hospital treatment for the wound.
According to PCC Gary Godden, it has been about 20 years since a police officer was shot in Nottingham, underscoring the rarity of such incidents in the city.
PCC Godden reported the officer's injuries are 'not life-threatening- it's most likely to be life-altering,' while the East Midlands Ambulance Service expressed support, wishing him a 'full and speedy recovery.'
Detectives recovered a firearm at the scene, though the man and woman suspects remain at large as authorities intensify their search across the city centre.
Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas called the shooting a 'sobering reminder of the potential dangers' officers face, as investigators work to establish the 'why' behind the attack.
