"Pure Nostalgia", "These Are Clean" - Manchester United Fans Take to X as Club Officially Unveils Away Jersey for 2026/27 Season
The jersey revisits the club’s late-1980s blue look and uses lightweight 3D engineered fabrics for elite performance, adidas said.
Manchester United and Adidas unveiled the 2026/27 away jersey on Monday, featuring a royal blue design that "revisits one of the club's most iconic away identities through a modern lens."
British rapper Stormzy effectively "leaked" the kit during Sunday's World Cup final in New Jersey, sharing images of himself wearing the unreleased jersey on Instagram while attending the Spain versus Argentina match.
Inspired by the 1988 kit, the jersey features wavy stripes echoing the River Irwell, with red and white detailing framing the V-neck collar and sleeves alongside the classic Adidas Trefoil logo.
United last wore this bold blue aesthetic during the 2016/17 season under former manager Jose Mourinho, though bright blue has anchored the club's colorway since the 1920s.
The kit is now available for purchase, though Michael Carrick's squad has yet to debut it in action, with the next preseason match scheduled for Friday against Norwegian side Rosenborg.
