Horror Scenes as Man Attacked by Shark at WA Beach
St John Ambulance said the man in his 50s was taken to Geraldton Hospital as a priority one emergency after the reported attack.
A man aged in his 50s was rushed to Geraldton Hospital on Monday morning following a shark attack in Western Australia's Midwest.
The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development confirmed a "shark incident" at Glenfield Beach, about 430 kilometres north of Perth, after receiving reports around 9:45am.
John Ambulance dispatched two vehicles to the scene at 9:50am, transporting the patient to Geraldton Hospital under priority one conditions.
The City of Greater Geraldton closed sections of the beach to the public, while authorities advised locals to "take additional caution" near the water.
Data on shark encounters with humans in Australia shows nearly 1,300 incidents since 1791, of which more than 260 resulted in death.
