Man killed and another injured in M6 crash
A 34-year-old passenger died and the van driver was seriously injured in a collision involving a van and crane truck, with police appealing for witnesses and footage.
- On March 4, a 34-year-old passenger from the Manchester area was pronounced dead after a crash on the M6 northbound carriageway between junction 16, Crewe and junction 17, Sandbach.
- Shortly after 19:40 GMT on Tuesday, a white Renault van and a crane truck collided on the northbound carriageway, with emergency services called just after 7.45pm.
- The van driver, a 30-year-old man from the Manchester area, was seriously injured and taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital, while the motorway was closed overnight and reopened at around 3am.
- Police are appealing for witnesses and footage, urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam evidence to contact Cheshire Police on 101 or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML 2281889.
- Today Cheshire Police said they are investigating the incident on the northbound carriageway between junction 16 and 17, and Inspector Andrew Dennison appealed for witnesses, saying 'Our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends at this sad time.
