Police Shoot, Kill Suspect on University of Northern Colorado Campus
- On Wednesday night, Greeley police fatally shot Theodore Lee Rybus, 41, after a pursuit on foot across the University of Northern Colorado campus.
- Around 8:12 p.m., police tried to stop Rybus near the campus because he was wanted for a felony related to stealing a vehicle, but he declined to pull over and fled.
- Rybus exited his car brandishing a gun, led officers on a foot chase across campus, fired his weapon, and officers returned fire after hearing gunshots.
- An officer reported on the radio that he was being shot at, and Rybus sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound as well as gunfire injuries from officers before being taken to the hospital.
- Rybus died from his injuries, no officers or bystanders were hurt, and the Weld County Sheriff's Office said the investigation remains ongoing with more details to be released.
