Pedestrian Critically Injured in Serious Collision on M6 Near Chorley
Police say the man remains in a life-threatening condition, and investigators are asking drivers with dash-cam footage to come forward.
- On Friday, a man fell from a bridge above the M6 at Junction 27 for Charnock Richard, Lancashire, and was struck by two vehicles. He remains in critical condition.
- The man was struck first by a heavy goods vehicle, then by a Vauxhall Adam after falling onto the southbound carriageway. Both drivers stopped at the scene and are being treated as witnesses.
- Sergeant Joe Calvert from Lancashire Police's road policing unit appealed for witnesses, stating: "If you were driving in the area at the time and saw anything that could help our investigation, or if you have dash-cam footage, please contact the police as soon as possible."
- Lancashire Police voluntarily referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to prior contact with the man earlier that day, following standard procedure in such circumstances.
- The M6 was closed in both directions following the collision overnight but has since reopened. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the fall.
