Man fatally wounded Thursday evening in Chatham neighborhood

A 29-year-old man was fatally wounded while he was entering a vehicle Thursday at a shopping center in the Chatham neighborhood, officials said. About 7:20 p.m., the man was entering his vehicle in the 8600 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when a blue sedan pulled up and the people inside opened fire in his direction, police said.
