Man Caught Living in the Crawlspace of Oregon Townhome Sentenced to Prison
Beniamin Bucur was convicted of first-degree burglary after deputies found a furnished crawlspace hideout with TVs, weapons and cooking burners.
- On Tuesday, 41-year-old Beniamin Bucur was sentenced to three years in prison by a Clackamas County court for first-degree burglary after living in a Happy Valley townhome's crawlspace.
- The case began on September 3, 2025, when a neighbor spotted Bucur entering the crawlspace on Southeast Old Town Court and called dispatch to alert authorities.
- Inside the crawlspace, investigators found a furnished living area with gaming consoles, TVs, and kitchen burners powered by a "network of power cords" plugged into the townhome's electricity.
- Deputy District Attorney Tiffany Escovar, who prosecuted the case, called Bucur "the roommate the family never knew they had" after he lived undetected for two and a half months.
- Bucur faces additional burglary charges in Washington County, and prosecutors say his criminal history spans more than 20 years, extending well beyond this conviction.
