Man Believed to Have Died of Heart Attack While Dumping Girlfriend's Body, DA Says
On June 10, authorities discovered the bodies of Daniel Robbins, 44, and Jessica Folds, 47, in a wooded area near County Road 86 in Lanett, Alabama, about 80 miles northeast of Montgomery. Robbins died of a heart attack while attempting to dispose of Folds' body.
Autopsy results confirmed Folds died from strangulation, while investigators believe the killing stemmed from a domestic incident. Robbins' ex-wife said he had a pre-existing heart condition, consistent with forensic findings regarding his sudden death.
Chambers County sheriff's deputies responded after a passer-by reported an abandoned pickup truck running in the middle of County Road 86. Officers found drag marks leading into the woods, where the two bodies were located just feet apart.
Following an investigation by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, officials concluded the case. Because the suspected perpetrator died, authorities determined no criminal charges will be filed in Folds' death.
A memorial service took place on June 28 at her mother's residence to celebrate Folds, whom loved ones described in her obituary with a "heart of gold" whose smile "brightened the world.
Daniel Robbins murdered his girlfriend Jessica Folds. Then he died himself when he was about to dump the mother of three's body, writes the Independent.
