Arrest after stabbing at a hotel used to house asylum seekers
Surrey Police arrested a man in his 20s after the attack, and a man in his 30s was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday evening, police arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing at Stanwell Hotel on Town Lane in Staines, a facility housing asylum seekers.
The victim, a man in his 30s, sustained "life-threatening injuries" and was transported to hospital by South East Coast Ambulance Service, police said.
A Somalian national in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody. Detective Superintendent Kate Hyder noted armed officers were dispatched to assist with the arrest.
Surrey Police confirmed they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident, though a police presence remains in the area while officers conduct initial enquiries.
Police requested the public avoid speculation and urged anyone with information to contact the force, acknowledging the incident has caused concern within the local community.
