Man, 19, fatally stabbed in London as murder investigation under way
A 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed on Rye Lane, prompting a murder investigation and increased police presence, with no arrests made yet, police said.
On Saturday, 14 February, a murder investigation was launched after a 19-year-old man was fatally stabbed on Rye Lane, near the junction of Heaton Road, Peckham Rye.
With detectives investigating, the Met urged anyone near Rye Lane between 18:30 and 19:30 to contact 101, quoting 6065/14Feb, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Family have been informed and are supported by specialist officers, while the London Ambulance Service treated the victim at the scene before he was pronounced dead, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
The closure of the road has left the section of road where Rye Lane meets Peckham Rye closed for 17 hours with eight diverted London buses, and police have increased presence, urging local residents to share concerns with officers on the ground.
Superintendent Gabriel Cameron said 'No one should lose their life because of knife crime', adding detectives are working meticulously to identify those responsible, the force said.
