- Saturday's coordinated dawn offensive by Islamist insurgents and Tuareg-dominated separatist groups marked the largest attacks in nearly 15 years, hitting Mali's main army base and forcing Russian troops out of the strategic northern town of Kidal.
- At least 23 people were killed in the fighting, including Defence Minister Sadio Camara, while a JNIM spokesman threatened a blockade on all roads into Bamako and Kati, warning that entering is "forbidden until further notice."
- Russian ambassador Igor Gromyko met with Goita on Tuesday to discuss the partnership between Bamako and Moscow, where Gromyko "reaffirmed his country's commitment to stand with Mali in the fight against terrorism."
- The army has withdrawn from several positions in the northern Gao region amid uncertainty over the junta's future, prompting Goita to urge the population to "stand up against division and national fracture.
