Major Spanish airport to reopen after closing for a month with all flights cancelled
All flights were cancelled during the monthlong closure, which affected more than 3.6 million annual passengers, airport officials said.
Castro Airport is set to reopen on May 27, ending a month-long closure for runway renovations that halted all air traffic since April 23.
This month-long closure forced the cancellation of all flights, significantly impacting thousands of Brits who typically travel through the Spanish Airport annually.
More than 3.6 million people travel through the hub annually, with around 30 flights operating weekly from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, and Manchester involving Airlines like British Airways, Ryanair, and Vueling.
Travelers seeking alternatives during the closure have relied on Vigo Airport, located 100 km away, as the primary option for those visiting Spain.
As the facility prepares to resume operations next week, Airlines advise passengers: "If you have any questions about your flight status, schedule changes, or possible rebooking, we recommend contacting your airline.
