Maine’s Catholic diocese reaches settlements with dozens who sued for abuse

Roughly half the claims were covered by seven-figure payments, according to a plaintiffs lawyer, as the diocese resolved cases from older and recent abuse allegations.

The agreements came after Maine's highest court struck down a state law that allowed people to sue for claims of child sexual abuse, regardless of how long ago the abuse occurred.
